We have a table at the Pleasant Ridge Gallery At Rexville. We have our totes, placemats, quilted wall hangings, pillows, original hand made cards, and Amy's pen pouches for sale. The venue is a grange building, the largest one in the state of Washington. Maybe you don't know what a grange is, like me just a few years ago. A grange is a community center for those living in rural areas. If you live in the area, drop in and see our work in person. But hurry, the show ends this Sunday, the 19th of April.

This is a peek at our Crane quilt which I just finished quilting late last night. Amy designed the blocks. We worked a bit together getting it started, and then each worked separately to finish the blocks. It needs a binding, the final step in the process, and the one I love almost as much as quilting. I'll post a photo when it is finished.

We have several really wonderful new things finished or almost finished in 2009 already. It's exciting to see some of these things coming into being... a few challenge pieces... and the completion of pieces we worked on during Opal's visit in November. But the opening of the year also marked the move of some of our pieces to a new retail location. Our work is now being displayed and sold at Sheelys, a floral and gift shop in Anacortes, Washington. If you are in that area of Washington, stop in and take a look. I love how this small selection of Here2There pieces looks nestled in among the eclectic range of items in their shop.

And... our first collaborative quilt... the one we call BQ1. Well, just minutes after it was hung on the wall in the store to see if it was a good fit for it... someone fell in love with it and took it home. Just like that.

BQ1 has a loving new home. And we're working now on a replacement (or two).

Two Shows

Four Springs Gallery

Last week was a busy one for Here2There. We had to set up, tear down, and set up again for two shows within a span of five days. The first show was at the Four Springs Preserve on Camano Island, a beautiful retreat center with a lake, woods, and open spaces.

Bird House Lovee

We had five pieces accepted in this show. It was the first time this group had included fiber art, and the response from the members and viewing public was wonderful. It is always good to get positive feedback on your work.

Blue Skies

Opening1

Our small art quilts were displayed there with watercolors, oils, sculpture, jewelry, and pottery. It was an exciting blend of art. The show ran three days, and even with lots of rain, the attendance was good, and, we sold one piece....woohoo!

Two days later I set up our booth at the holiday shop in the local coffee roaster facility. This show runs through the month of December and includes
arts and crafts from artists in the area. We are hopeful that the pieces we have been making will find new homes. Of course, I stop by as often as I can to rearrange and, yes, stand back and admire the totality of our work displayed there.

In a few days, another assortment of Here2There pieces will be delivered for the next show. This one at the grange in the tulip fields up north. That will be another post.

FLICKR-HERE2THERE-pcard-1-front

We've been really busy not only with the making of the physical pieces... the pillows and Lovees and totes and other items we have lined up for fall, many of which feature our favored birdhouses. We've also been busy getting our business materials in place. That means postcards, business, cards, enclosures, brochures, etc. Luckily, we're able to put together these pieces ourselves. That's a big bonus.

I love our first postcard. I just love it. It showcases work from each of us, but I love how it all works together... how the tone of the work included all meshes and merges and creates an overall feel. That's so much what I love about the way we work and the pieces we create. This card... I love.

We've been sending out a few here and there... did you get one?
