Episode 54: A Simple Wish

Amy Podcast

Note: I’m pushing this show out a week early. I’d hoped to push it out from the road… but at the last minute, I’ve decided to just go ahead and push it so that I don’t have to worry about it from “there” – too many variables to contend with. So, if you happen to “notice” it’s out here a week early… P A C E Y O U R S E L F. This is next week’s show. There won’t be another one until the week of July 9th. That’s a while. Pace yourself! But, have a great two weeks, too. And, hey, this is really the “first” show of July, and it feels more like a “regular” show than the last have. So, a “happier” show. Enjoy!

  1. Great show again Amy! We had such a lovely time in San Francisco last week, thanks for your tips! We stayed next to the SF MOMA, and that book store is to die for!!!!
I found two books I think you’d love if you don’t have them already. Usborne Activity Cards 50 things to Draw and Paint, and Doodles, a Really Giant Coloring and Doodling Book by Taro Gomi. I’m going to use these with my children as well as with my students when I go back to teaching later in the month.
Thanks again for such a wonderful podcast!!!

  2. Amy, here’s how I prep ATCs and it’s so much less fiddling than the scissor method. All you need are a bull clip, an exacto, and a metal ruler. You can cut three sheets at a time. Just measure off a strip, but just use tick marks rather than a line. Bull clip the pages together, then use the exacto to cut the line. Repeat. If you don’t score through on the first try, just make another pass with the knife. You can stack up to 6 strips, hold them with the clip, and then measure off the second cut to turn them into ATCs.
I hope that makes sense. Basically, I’m saying – don’t use scissors. :)

  3. Amy, Just listened to this show and I love, love, love “Code Monkey” and can’t get it out of my mind! Fabulous lyrics and great insight into the life of a coder. Also, for making ATCs, I use “Fiskars Mini Guillotine” for precise trimming of small paper and photographs. For larger paper (>6″) “Fiskers 12″/30cm Euro Personal Paper Trimmer” is an essential in so much of my crafts. Tammy
