42 on a Bench

Things have been too chaotic to allow me to get sketches from the book to the computer, as simple as that task might sound. But Opal sent me this photo (along with others) yesterday. I saw it first as I tried to sort out car issues and a rental, and I just love it. I’ll share the full-on photo she sent later. She just finished quilting it for me, and so these are the first finished photos I’ve seen since sending it back with her to her studio after taking the final stitches this summer. The piece is actually meant to hang on a wall, and made to fit (roughly) within the space of a single wall I think I have that might be able to hold a quilt. But draped here on the bench, it’s breathtaking. It’s a very simple quilt, but it’s a quilt of a year and over a year… so it has meaning.

Wow. Stunning. Elegant against the forest backdrop. Super cool, super YOU, super work.
