Episode 228 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast

In this episode of the CMP, the brain dump strategy and how to get all those thoughts in your head under control by writing them down on one mammoth list. Plus, outliner apps, a rogue mind mapping app, a bit of creative angst, and more.

The Flow of Episode 228 (and relevant links):

A brain dump is a ‘kitchen sink’ list. It’s the list where you get everything down… the theory being that by getting things down, you help clear and focus your mind.

  1. Loved this. Confession: Sometimes I find myself writing things on my list JUST SO that I can cross it off, to show that I did that (something) today, a reminder. Oftentimes that checkmark is much like a reward! I have also discovered that if/when I keep a list (my categories are: want to, have to, should do) I often find that it is like putting a post-it note on my brain, so then when an opportunity (time slot, down time, a golden moment) presents itself, my subconsious is ready right then and there to peel off that sticky note and wave it in front of my face (so to speak). I find more UNmissed opportunities ‘just happen to come along’ now.
