Episode 299 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast

In this episode of the CMP, thoughts on building a nest, twig by twig and stick by stick and then dismantling it, twig by twig and stick by stick, over and over again. This process is part of the CMP and the creative journey and terrain reflected in my words. Plus, thoughts on a passage I read in a book that suggests that “realistic” drawing is, by nature, destined to be stiff and boring. On the heels of reading that, I folded down a page in a novel because of the word verisimilitude. I made a mental note to talk about this concept, about the attempt at making something appear realistic. A few days later, listening to an old episode of the CMP (and doing a¬†sketchnote draft), I heard myself use the word… verisimilitude. Things come full circle.

You don’t have to put down another approach to legitimize your own. Accept difference. Appreciate difference. Love what you do. Tune out words from others, words that attempt to create either/or systems, words that whisper that your work, your creative pursuits, are less valid than others. There is room for us all.
