 Episode 323: Storybook Portraits

Above: a glimpse of the cover of Well-Read Women: Portraits of Fiction’s Most Beloved Heroines (by Samantha Hahn), the book covered in this episode.

Episode 323 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast

In this episode of the CMP, a review of Well-Read Women: Portraits of Fiction’s Most Beloved Heroines, a collection of portraits by Samantha Hahn. I really enjoyed the portraits in this book illustrating the way Hahn interprets and “reads” these characters, and I think you will, too. Hahn’s style is loose watercolor/paint, and I think many of you will be inspired in seeing these. You may find that Hahn’s renderings don’t match the way you think of some of these characters, and that is part of the wonderful thing about this book. You get a look at how Hahn envisions these literary women. If you are familiar with these characters, you may find it interesting to compare your own mental images of characters and Hahn’s portraits. Find this at your library and flip through it while enjoying coffee or tea. You’ll enjoy it.
